It’s also a new location in echo park. we’re all eager to find out what will happen! Anyways be sure to put it on your calendar and come see some serious gaming, the latest from our inhouse dj’s and our always impressive live art shows.

UGTL5

Its that time again to start designing! It’s always best to start the year off with something I LIKE doing, like making a cool flyer for the next Underground Tournament League’s event. I had this design simmering for a while, waiting for the guys to get the info to me, so it wasn’t too hard to deliver.

I really wanted to get an environment in this design so I grabbed some bricks and a storm and went to town. I really recommend anyone who loves video games to come out. Most of the people there aren’t even competing, they’re just meeting people and watching the fights plus the live art, which I’ll be doing once again! Other artists will be there too and we’ll be selling originals. The whole thing takes me back to when I’d hang out in the arcade all day but this is honestly, much better. Check it out!

If you’d like me to design your next flyer, send me an email! Oh ya before you head over to UGTL’s site, be sure to stop by and get a coloring page! Download them and have your kids color them! ok, you can color them too.

UGTL 4! Postcard Design

My latest 4×6 Design for the  Street Fighter 4 Tournament in LA.

kenryuThe guys at UGTL pretty much give me free reign on these postcard designs which is a great opportunity for me to try new things. I drew this Ken vs. Ryu during the live art at UGTL 3 and knew it would be perfect for the next flyer.

Its just sharpie and a little bit of watercolor which I then scanned and started photoshopping.

I used color halftoning to get the colors to look printed. A technique I’ve been wanting to use for a while.

Once it was time for backgrounds and text I decided to keep with the whole messy underground feel of paint splatters and woodpanels.  Street Fighter 4 has a lot of watercolor paint effects going on so its cool to be

able to give the flyer such a great organic and traditional feel.

UGTL3 4×6

This was my first flyer for the Underground Tournament League. It was last second and I had to deliver a fast turnaround. Having never even played SF4 I had to jump online and see what was going on visually. Splatter paint was very prominent in the style so I ran with it, found an image of Ken and made him stick 3 fingers out to highlight the “3rd” event. The design and the event was successful and opened some new doors for my design gigs.
