as a huge fan of art, ive always been fascinated with how a piece is imagined and then created.  Norman Rockwell for instance, has some serious stuff! ive been a huge fan of his my whole life but i just could not fathom how he could just paint like that. until one day i found a used $2 normal rockwell book at the library for sale. it wasn’t just his art, it was his process! this changed the way i did everything, because, foolishly, i had never sketched anything out before actually going to the canvas. Rockwell had various intricate studies on composition, color, and shadow. since then, i’ve always made sure to do a study. i can’t believe i was never taught this.

anyhow. the first pic is what i found in my sketchbook the morning after a pretty crazy party. i had no recollection of drawing this! it was a good party! well, i started laughing instantly. and asked my roommate how this appeared in my sketchbook. she told the story and i was so amused i realized i could go much further than batman and spiderman. these compare nothing to rockwells of course, but still i think its cool to see them in scribble form too so off to the sketches!!
