My friend Max Littman directed a silent film in 2008 for UCSB’s Reel Loud Film Festival. This event features silent student films with live musical accompaniment. Max contracted me to design the promo poster and I was happy to help. I had been taking photos on location as they were filming and at one point the lead actor and Jilly, the little girl, were doing spinning high fives. The best photo became the basis for this poster. His hair was up, he had a great dynamic pose, and he was holding a guitar. It was perfect. Threw a few filters on it, color adjustments and threw in a 16mm filmstrip with the cast of characters.  The film Jesus Blues, which was shot on 16mm and had a great live band won the highest award that night.
